At 20,320 feet, Mount McKinley (also called Denali) is the highest mountain in North America. Rising from an elevation of only 3,000 feet, it has the greatest relief of any mountain in the entire world. Denali is so large that it creates its own weather patterns, and it is shrouded in clouds much of the time. Over half the mountain is permanently covered in snow.
