The 56-foot Eldred Rock lighthouse was built in 1906 to guide vessels into the Lynn Canal following the sinking of the Clara Nevada. One hundred lives and $100,000 worth of gold had been lost in the tragedy 8 years earlier. The imposing Chilkat Range towers in the background. |
